Oh, Prince Albert...!

No, not that kind of Prince Albert. Get your mind out of the gutter, babes...

But yes. This is what it would have looked like for the Gilded Age era people.

XOXO

P.S. That series on HBO is beautifully art directed. I've caught bits and pieces of it and it's a treat. Recommend.

    3. Well, then there's THAT.
Depending on the valet, it would be a very fast or a very leisurely activity...

  3. Slim trousers...they come in and go out of style. Skinny jeans? Stretch jeans?
I do enjoy The Gilded Age. All the dressing for dinner, etc. though - what a PITA. LOL

      Not the point, Dave.
And your beloved t-shirt actually started in the XIX century as an undergarment. You still owe them a debt of gratitude....

Prince Albert, avec sa prévoyance, s'inscrivait dans la grand tradition de noblesse oblige avec la grande exposition de 1851 à Londres et ses benfaits.

  6. I love waistcoats. Do you suppose Albert actually buttoned his own shirts and put on and tied his shoes himself. I kind of doubt it.

I think those super rich people during the Gilded Age spoiled themselves rotten. No, he did as little as possible.

I would also recommend A Hundred Years of Solitude. The whole thing is on Netflix and it's fab.

  8. I could have easily lived in this time period. I know right, one you likes to be scantily clad or in fitted clothing.!!!! LOL! But men in this time were very gentlemanly and very dapper.....that's hot in my book.
