Oh, Mr. Schubert...

You can find this kind of place in Chicago, mainly in the city. The suburbs are plastic and slightly repetitive, but the city? It’s fab. You’d probably have to update the place a little (it was built in the 1920s, after all), like they did but wouldn’t it be fantastic?

I actually like the wallpaper in the niches. Seriously. And I don’t even like wallpaper. I like the idea of a ‘gallery feel’ in the hallway and even the detail of the wall texture. It adds to the overall mood. The kitchen is very cool, too. The island is a great  touch. The whole prep/work areas make sense to me. And you know I don’t really cook,

And the primary bedroom is a MOOD. Do like! The drenching is fab and I like the contrast with the wallpaper (who the fuck knew?).

XOXO

  1. Big says,
Oooo. It's very dark. The kitchen works well only if you have a sous chef. Otherwise, the perfect layout is a Triangle of sink, stove, fridge to easily move from one to the other. The wallpaper niches, not so much but I do like the one behind the bed - plus that breaks up the trendy color drench.

    1. I kind of like the kitchen like that, because the triangle really does not affect me. I'm not a cook, so basics will do.
I liked the wallpaper and the drench. So moody!

  2. I agree...the kitchen and the master bedroom are stunning!!! I am starting to use more moody colors in the house. And plans to soon. Many people are afraid of moody colors and wallpaper...but if done right...they are gorgeous. I love wallpaper as I love pattern. I always tell people who want to try either...pick one focal wall first and then it you like it...continue it. But wallpaper for me personally is a one wall or two wall max...no whole room...unless it's a hallway or powder room. In larger rooms it then doesnt feel as special.

    1. Ohh yes!
Deep jewel colors? Yum. And I'm kind of getting into wallpaper. I've discovered I like big designs on it, too. And a wallpapered powder room? Dreamy!

  3. I like bits. I lovelovelove the kitchen it's fabulous. And I love the color of the credenza in the dining room--I painted out sunroom ceiling that same color after having the skylights removed.
Love the bedroom, too; that green all over is crazy good. I loathe the white closet doors because they look unfinished like they're still waiting for more green paint.

  4. Shock of shocks, I like this because there is Not a Lot of Clutter. I might lighten up the niche paper, it's too dark to see the pattern. Amusingly, they didn't build condos in the 20s, they built row homes, some of them in Harrisburg are quite wide with multiple fireplaces on each floor.

    1. LOL
A man's clutter is another man's collection. And no, condos were not really a thing in the 20s and this style of abode is kinda common in town in Chi.
I like the idea of several fireplaces. I'm glad they kept this one.
